A Rare Peek into my Rick's Prayer Journal

My precious husband Rick has kept a prayer journal for years...in fact, ever since he began his Christian life at the age of nineteen. He began with a little list and has added to it over time. It's changed and progressed, but the content fills dozens of pages. It has a prayer book in the front, a map in the middle, and a diary in the end.

The purpose? Well, I asked him. He spouted off several purposes in rapid-fire response and my little fingers typed away as fast as they would fly, while I gazed into his passionate eyes with deep admiration and respect (I've always loved the challenge of typing without looking at the keyboard!). He said...

"to illicit praying and help me love Christ;
to remember specific statements that have encouraged me in prayer;
to direct my thinking/passions in a way that encourages communion with God;
to give a greater vision for my life (for God to use my life);
to encourage effective prayer and to get to the place where I can pray life-changing, world-altering, community-impacting, church-infecting prayers;
to pray in such a way that it can be used as a tool to help other men and women to live effectively for the glory of God..."

I quietly smuggled a small page from his prayer book and inserted it into here, my unheralded blog, in order to share a thumbnail glimpse into the heart and mind of my dear husband. (Then...(teeheehee...I asked permission to share...)
